I have 5 NetGalley books I need to read. I may have stopped reading for a while, but I have a good reason. The Pandemic. I fell behind on reading and instead, put my attention towards the kids’ distance learning. Boy, was that something! Okay, moving on before I have flashbacks 😛
This is the newest one to my list of unread ARCs. Malice is a dark retelling of Sleeping Beauty with a twist. While a dark fairy does curse a line of princesses and the only cure is true love’s kiss. Who said it must be a prince? Okay, I was intriuged and just have to read it.
I have only ever read 1 of Annie Rains’ books, Snowfall on Cedar Trail. I fell for Annie, I’m a new fan. I was excited to see this book on NetGalley and requested it right away. Even though this is the 5th book in the series, it can be read as a standalone. Sadly, I haven’t been able to get to reading this wonderful summer book. Completely missed summer, but hey, I live in Texas. It’s like summer all year ’round!
Western romance might just be my weakness in this particular genre. Cowboys are typically seen as hard working, loyal, and an all around family man (that may be just my interpretation of them). Reese St. James has a twin brother that dies in a car accident. Reese then learns he has a 6 month old niece named Sawyer. He decides he wants to take in the little girl and heads to New Mexico to pick her up. He didn’t count on Sawyer’s guardian to give him trouble. Lorelei West had given up hope on having a family of her own. That is, until her sister’s tragic death brings Sawyer into her life. There is no way she will let Reese just swoop in and take Sawyer away. Can we guess what will happen? I have an inkling, but I need to read this like now!
After her father’s death, Ruth Robb and her family transplant themselves in the summer of 1958 from New York City to Atlanta—the land of debutantes, sweet tea, and the Ku Klux Klan. In her new hometown, Ruth quickly figures out she can be Jewish or she can be popular, but she can’t be both. Eager to fit in with the blond girls in the “pastel posse,” Ruth decides to hide her religion. Before she knows it, she is falling for the handsome and charming Davis and sipping Cokes with him and his friends at the all-white, all-Christian Club. Does it matter that Ruth’s mother makes her attend services at the local synagogue every week? Not as long as nobody outside her family knows the truth. At temple Ruth meets Max, who is serious and intense about the fight for social justice, and now she is caught between two worlds, two religions, and two boys. But when a violent hate crime brings the different parts of Ruth’s life into sharp conflict, she will have to choose between all she’s come to love about her new life and standing up for what she believes. Okay, I just copied the synopsis from NetGalley, but I don’t think I could have described this book so wonderfully on my own.
It may just be fall, but Christmas time is right around the corner. I was never one for Christmas stories, but somewhere in the past 3 years that has changed. Single father Granger Fields runs the Merry Mountain Tree Farm, Christmas is his busiest and most profitable time of year. When a fire devastates the farm, Granger fears this season won;t be holly or jolly, he unless he convinces free spirited Joy Benson to care for his two rambunctious daughters. While Granger focuses on saving his business, Joy seems determined to shake up his family’s Christmas with her festive ideas and merry making. Joy, on the other hand, is looking forward to opening her own art gallery. This new babysitting job will help her reach her goal and sees a new opportunity for her and Granger. Joy wants to hold her crafting classes at the farm in hope of getting more cheer in the Fields house. Can she do it? Will Granger open his heart again?
Malice sounds really interesting.

Thank you! I’m most excited about the Annie Rains books. She seems to write light heart, cute stories. It’s a nice break between thrillers and such.

The lure of Netgalley is hard to resist. I had twenty to read and I’m now down to 3 so I think it’s time to start requesting again. Yay for Christmas reads. I need to start organising my Christmas to read list.
